Brakes and clutches control the start, stop or connection of the drive to the machine. They are used where a fixed mechanical connection is not enough and it is necessary to control the transmission of torque.
For clutches, the shaft diameter, transmitted torque, flexibility and misalignment tolerance are decisive. For brakes, braking force, control method, voltage and duty cycle are important.
