Stieber was founded in Munich in 1937 and is now a medium-sized company employing 140 people at its sites in Heidelberg and Garching near Munich, where it develops and manufactures one-way couplings and latches. Stieber boasts many innovative developments throughout the company's history; innovations that have made it a European market leader. This capability was demonstrated, for example, during the development and design of the world's largest ratchet. Stieber, part of Altra Industrial Motion, Inc. is a world leader in overrunning couplings and latches along with its sister companies Formsprag and Marland in the USA.
