O-rings
O-rings are universal circular seals for static and some dynamic connections. They are used in hydraulics, pneumatics, fittings, pumps, lids and flanged joints.
The internal diameter, the cross-section diameter and the material decide when choosing. NBR, FKM, EPDM or silicone behave differently in oil, water, temperature and chemical environments.
- measure the inside diameter and cross-sectional strength
- verify material by medium and temperature
- do not remove a stretched old ring without checking the groove
- monitor extrusion and hardness for pressure applications

For the O-ring, it's best to measure the groove as well, not just the old gasket. A worn or swollen ring may have a different dimension than a new part.
