Chain couplings
Chain couplings connect two shafts using a chain and toothed hubs. It is suitable for robust torque transmission, where easier assembly and a certain tolerance to small inaccuracies are needed.
The selection depends on the diameter of the shafts, the transmitted torque, the speed, the width of the coupling and the space for the cover. Lubrication and correct tension of the connecting chain are also important.
- measure the diameters of both shafts
- verify the required torque and speed
- check the overall length of the coupling and the space for the cover
- do not underestimate the alignment, lubrication and condition of the connecting chain
