Gufer
Gufera are shaft seals that retain the lubricant inside the machine and prevent dust or moisture from entering. They are used in gearboxes, motors, pumps and conventional rotary bearings.
The basic dimension of the guffer is written as inner diameter, outer diameter and width. Furthermore, the material of the edge, the spring, the dust cover, the direction of rotation and the medium with which the seal works are decisive.
- measure the shaft, the hole in the body and the width of the attachment
- distinguish between single-edged and double-edged designs
- verify material by temperature, oil or chemistry
- check the condition of the shaft where the cutting edge abuts
