Lamellar chains for variators
Lamellar chains for variators transmit power in continuously variable gears. They work differently than a regular roller chain, and their correct replacement depends on the exact design of the variator.
Chain width, length, blade shape, number of links and compatibility with tapered discs are essential when choosing. A worn chain can slip, make noise or destroy the contact surfaces.
- do not replace the lamellar chain with a regular roller chain
- verify the width, number of links and variator type
- check the condition of the bevel surfaces in the gear
- for the old part, take pictures of the side profile and the detail of the slats
